Welcome

We are a small, four-class primary school for children aged 3-11, near the rural town of Southwell, with approximately 90 pupils plus a nursery. Our children come from many of the outlying villages in the area, in addition to the catchment villages of Kirklington, Maplebeck and Winkburn.

Our aim is to give our pupils as many worthwhile learning experiences as possible while at primary school, in order to enrich their education, extend their range of development and reach their full potential, not just academically but creatively, physically and personally too.

We have worked hard as a staff team and, with knowledge of our pupils' backgrounds, developed our broad and balanced curriculum which we are confident meets pupils' needs. With Mitre Trust, we share good practice and professional development, and seek opportunities for our staff and pupils to share experiences and events within and beyond our school.

Our staff work closely together with others from the Minster Trust for Education (Mitre) to explore sequences of work, consider assessment practices, moderate attainment standards across the schools, and support each other through leadership and school development opportunities, including an invaluable collaborative review process.

Our school provides a rich and varied curriculum which takes account of individual needs as well as developing the whole child. It is based on a proven progression model and focusses on pupils developing mastery. Much of what we can offer is bespoke, with pastoral support and targeted provision for individuals a feature of the school.

The school has its own head teachers, assistant head & SENDCo and individual subject leaders. We have strong links with our locality and have quick access to the lsurrounding countryside for environmental work. We have developed an exciting curriculum with additional emphasis on personal development and environmental awareness, including outdoor learning opportunities and forest school for all pupils.

To see the school, please contact the office manager for a suitable time. Visits or an informal conversation are always welcome from interested parents without any obligation.
